Hyekyeoung Lee joined Freedom Speakers International in 2024. She came to South Korea in 2006. When she was 12 years old, her parents suddenly passed away, and her brother and she became orphans. As she endured those nightmare-like days, believing that just surviving was the best she could do, her only sibling, her older brother, helped her escape from North Korea.

It was only after arriving in South Korea that she came to understand what freedom and human rights truly mean. She is determined to do her best to help, even in a small way, to restore the human rights of orphans in North Korea.
